i was the guy who earlier posted the message regarding
my wlan card catching the signal from the wrong access
point. to tell in brief, i have two access points near
my room with the same ESSID, my wlan card switches
from one access point to the other every few minutes,
whenever it catches the signal from one of the points
my bandwidth goes low and signal strength is low as
well, whenever it catches from the other, net speed is
quite high. my problem is to bind premanently my wlan
card to the correct access point.
as members have sugested, i tried editing the
wlan-ng.opts file in pcmcia folder, but in that file i
dont have the entries for my wlan card. The
configuratino for my wlan card is in another file
called ifcfg-wlan0 in
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices folder.
the contents are:
# Please read
/usr/share/doc/initscripts-*/sysconfig.txt
# for the documentation of these parameters.
IPV6INIT=no
ONBOOT=yes
USERCTL=yes
PEERDNS=yes
GATEWAY=
TYPE=Wireless
DEVICE=wlan0
HWADDR=00:11:6b:32:de:5c
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=
DHCP_HOSTNAME=
IPADDR=
DOMAIN=
ESSID='IIIT WLAN'
CHANNEL=13
MODE=Managed
RATE='54 Mb/s'
i tried adding an entry SCAN_BSSID but of no avail,
still the BSSID keeps changing.
good bye , have a nice time........
vishy
