Hi.

I have the D-Link DWL-AB650 wireless LAN adapter, and I'm running RedHat 9
with kernel 2.4.20-18.9. I've installed the drivers, and I am able to
connect to an access point (a D-Link DI-764 Multimode Wireless Router).
However, I am unable to receive an IP address from the router. I have a
file called "ifcfg-ath0" saved in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. The
contents of the file are as follows:

DEVICE=ath0
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp

This does not seem to work. I know the DWL-AB650 card isn't found until
after ath0 is initialized, so ONBOOT=yes could be wrong. However, I use the
commands

ifconfig ath0 down
ifconfig ath0 up

to stop and start the card, and I still get no IP address. Also, nothing is
written to my /etc/resolve.conf file.

I read a message in this list, and it was suggested to use this "ifcfg-ath0"
file:

# Please read /usr/share/doc/initscripts-*/sysconfig.txt
# for the documentation of these parameters.
USERCTL=yes
PEERDNS=yes
GATEWAY=
TYPE=Wireless
DEVICE=ath0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=
ONBOOT=no
DHCP_HOSTNAME=
IPADDR=
NAME=
DOMAIN=
ESSID=Any
#CHANNEL=1
MODE=Managed
#KEY=
#RATE=11Mb/s

I am also unsuccessful getting an IP address with this file (even when I
stop and start the card after boot).

Would anyone know how I could get an IP address through dhcp using the
DWL-AB650 card and madwifi driver? YES, my router's dhcp server is working.
  I am successful in getting an IP address with machines using fast
ethernet.

Thanks,
Dan
