Hello,
I just bought a Netgear MA311 PCI card and have two questions to get
started. The system I am using here is a RedHat 7.1.
The system is currently networked via a 3Com 509 adapter. As soon as I
plug the MA311 in (without any wlan drivers installed) eth0 is still
recognized and configured (as seen from dmesg and ifconfig) but there
is no "route to host" for my other computer on the LAN. netstat -r
looks ok. Unplugging the MA311 restores network connectivity.
I am a bit puzzeled here: what might be the reason?
As for the drivers I thought compiling from the src rpm would be
best. So I installed the kernel source rpm, copied the proper .config
file to the top of the kernel tree and did a rpm --rebuild of the wlan-ng
src.rpm. All went fine. During install (and boot) I get now those
unresolved symbols as I still run the stock RH kernel.
The build of the wlan rpm did many changes to the kernel tree. But it
also (re)moved the .config file. Can I find it somewhere to compile
the matching kernel ? Or perhaps there is a better way to install the
drivers on that platform ...
Hope all this is not too confusing,
thanks for any help,
Ekkehard
