Does wlan-ng driver still work with the card (or at least displays the fw
versions on startup)?
AFAIK genesis mode is a way to resurrect cards damaged by failed fw
downloads. It involves connecting a certain pin of the PCMCIA connector
to Vcc. Look here for more (or google for "genesis mode" yourself):
