Thanks for the tip.
I've downloaded and compiled hostap_cs and prism2_srec, changing the appropiate lines in the header file, but when I try to download the hex file for 1.4.9 firmware to flash, i get:
Ioctl: Connection timed out
Missing wlan component info
Could not read wlan RIDs
Did something similar happened to you?. It's quite strange I can't upgrade firmaware with any tool (windows or linux based), but I don't have any more cards to check if this one is useless.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I can't answer your original questions but I've just successfully upgraded
my USR2410 from 0.8.3 to 1.4.9 using the host_ap's prism2_srec utility
(as recommended in
http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/prism2dl/readme.prism2dl) and this hex
file http://hostap.epitest.fi/hostap/2002-08/1540.html.
If you'll try this, don't forget to uncomment
#define PRISM2_DOWNLOAD_SUPPORT
#define PRISM2_NON_VOLATILE_DOWNLOAD
in driver/modules/hostap_config.h
